The Best Case Scenario: Naloxone Saves Lives

There was a possible overdose at LINK today. People in our community were aware, acted immediately, applied naloxone (Narcan), and made sure the person was safe and breathing. Paramedics arrived. The person recovered and continued with their day.

This is the best case scenario!

Naloxone is a literal miracle drug that saves lives every single day. Everyone should carry naloxone with them: in your bag, in your car, in your office, in your school, and in your home.

Naloxone is not for you. Naloxone is for your friend. For your family member. For your co-worker. For your classmate. For a stranger. Naloxone allows each of us to literally save a life, in the same way that learning CPR and the Heimlich maneuver does.

The best part: naloxone is free here in Lawrence, Kansas! Lawrence has 6 vending machines available 24/7 for public access. Each machine offers free nasal spray and fentanyl test strips. No ID, prescription, or payment needed.

Today we got to experience the best case scenario because our community was aware, acted quickly, and had access to this life-saving medication.

Coming together as a community means we are proactively seeking the best for those around us. Naloxone helps us do just that. Please help us have more best case scenarios. Share this with the people around you, pick up some naloxone, and learn how to use it.

We are better together. We are grateful for this community!
