This week somebody went on our website and donated $100!
Today I was at the treasurer’s office updating our vehicle registration, and one of our guests walked in who I know sleeps in their car. I said hi to them by name, gave them a big hug, and told them how excited I was to see them.
They shared that they only had $250 in their bank account, and they were terrified about the unregistered vehicle, getting a ticket, and losing their only place of shelter.
“Your community is paying for this.”
They started crying and thanking God. I’ll call it a miraculous coincidence that we were in the same place at the right time.
Because you gave, we were able to give. This is how this work works. We are all in community with each other. Community works best when one of us is in trouble, we pool our resources, and that makes us all better.
Tonight this person is sleeping safely in their vehicle while we work toward more long-term solutions.
Thank you for giving so we can give! This is community.
